When the sun shines.....

..........................I love living in Cobh :)

St Colman's Cathedral as seen from the promenade, with the Friday morning Farmers Market in the foreground

"The Camber": to the left of the photo you can see one of Cork Harbour's two pilot boats. These boats take pilots onboard any vessels entering the harbour so that they can navigate the channel. Cork harbour is the second largest natural one in the world (Sydney is the largest)

The bandstand in the promenade!

The view from my front door....straight out the mouth of Cork Harbour :)

How bizarre!

During the week I found two very different quizzes on blogs belonging to friends…I did both and it has just dawned on me how bizarre and contradictory the results are!!

The first I found on Ladi’s newly created blog…it was a “which famous leader are you?” quiz so I duly followed the link and took the test…turns out I’m Gandhi J To be exact about this they said “Morals matter to you and you like to lead by example. Perfection is important to you”

Then I stumbled across the Machiavelli Personality Test on Dave’s blog and again duly took the test. Now despite my recently discovered Gandhi-like personality this is the result of my Machiavelli test “The Machiavelli personality test has a range of 0-100. Your Machiavelli score is: 81. You are a high Mach, you endorse Machiavelli’s opinions. Most people fall somewhere in the middle, but there’s a significant minority at either extreme.”

So, given the fact that Wikipedia define Machiavellianism as a person's tendency to deceive and manipulate others for gain…my question is…did Gandhi manage to pull the wool over our eyes and was his peaceful appearance really just a bluff, a façade if you will to cover a deep rooted evil streak or are internet tests just a whole load of bollox?!

This I had to share!

I only know of one movie that is universally adored by everybody that has ever seen it! For years I thought I was the only sad loser that got very excited to see it listed in the TV guide....turns out there were many like me! And then I discovered drinking games to be played while watching it and my obsession grew :) The movie I am referring to is The Princess Bride...if you have never seen it...shame on you! So at the moment I am reading the abridged version of the book, this version is actually what the movie is based on and it has totally rocked my world!!

So all psyched up about Buttercup and Westley (again if you have never seen it...SHAME!) I googled it and found a ..."Which Princess Bride character are you?!!" and well naturally I had to take it! :p I'm not entirely sure I am glad to be a male character...but then I thought of the women in it and well...I suppose I am happy enough :) especially since I got the cool one ;) although I have to say...Inigo gets the best lines...well line repeated!!!

I'm soo excited about this book I think it has taken my mental age back to seven or something!?! But how can you fail to be uber psyched by the words..."my name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father...prepare to die!". Classic I tell you! CLASS-IC!!!!

End of an era............

mmmmm.........I kinda don't want to jinx myself by saying this but it would appear as though the end of an era is fast approaching! If all goes to plan then next Tuesday the 2nd of May I will be sitting my very last undergraduate exam EVER! How cool is that?! Just about one more week 'til I wave goodbye to UCC and all that goes with it!!!!

And by all that goes with it I do of course mean my career in retail :p Yes I know the MC isn't exactly paid and yes I am aware that in order to survive in Dublin...one of the most expensive cities in Europe, I will have to get myself a part-time job...it will not however reflect my experience to date! As of May 30th that chapter of my retail career ends!

Sunshine!

A name I frequently attribute to those I know and love...but today it takes on a whole new meaning as rays of glorious sunshine fill up my room casting my shadow over the computer screen! and even better as I look out on the harbour the water is glistening and shimmering even in the promise of the spring sun......summer can't be too far behind!!!
